Contributions

Purpose. Papers are original works that will be completed by the time of the conference and are intended to contribute to ongoing and structured scholarly discourse in the field.

Format. Papers are no less than 8 pages. Submitters should maintain a 6000-word count limit.

Review. Papers will be reviewed, with instructions for revision provided to authors.

Sharing. Papers will be made available on the CATE 2026 website after the conference.

Purpose. Presentations allow contributors to share work in a live, in-person format using visual materials.

Format. Presentations are 15 minutes long and should include slides. The CATE 2026 slide template may be used. Submissions may be in PDF or PowerPoint format.

Review. Submissions will be editorially reviewed by the CATE 2026 Scientific Committee.

Sharing. Presentations will not be recorded or broadcast. Contributors will allow the organizers to share slides as part of the proceedings.

Purpose. Workshops provide a deep, interactive exploration of a single, focused topic. They should feature clear learning objectives and tangible outcomes.

Format. Workshops are 90 minutes in length. Proposals should include a description of the topic, objectives, activities, and expected outcomes.

Review. Workshop proposals will be editorially reviewed by the CATE 2026 Scientific Committee.

Sharing. Workshops will be delivered in-person and may be documented in the proceedings.

Purpose. Posters are suited for work-in-progress or informal research presentations in a visual format.

Format. Proposals are 1-page PDFs, which will be published in the proceedings if accepted. Final posters are 24" x 36", vertical format.

Review. Poster proposals will be reviewed for relevance and clarity.

Presentation. Posters will be displayed in person during the conference and may be included in the conference proceedings.

Purpose. Creative works explore research through artistic means such as video, photography, mixed media, or installation. They reflect socially engaged research and artistic practice.

Format. Submissions may include up to 5 images and a 500-word statement detailing 1) research questions/outcomes, 2) a description of the work, and 3) display/performance requirements. Include a contribution statement if multiple collaborators are involved.

Review. Submissions will be reviewed by the CATE 2026 Scientific Committee for clarity, relevance, and feasibility.

Presentation.  Accepted works will be exhibited or performed during the conference and may be documented in the proceedings or other exhibition materials.

Conference organizers may record and disseminate all submitted and presented work as part of the conference proceedings and in other communications. Work accepted to the conference will be covered by a CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 Creative Commons License. Contributors will retain rights to their work.

Work that depicts research participants or that may reveal the identity of research participants must include a statement of permission or consent.
